A mixed box changes the comparison.
A Pokémon binder and a box of baseball cards can share a shelf without sharing an inventory. If you collect both, the first question is whether one app covers the cards you actually own. Only then does it make sense to compare charts, scanning and subscriptions.
Our starting pick is Collectr for a TCG collection you want to organize and export. Cardly AI deserves attention when sports cards are a substantial part of the job. Its documented condition-estimate tools add another reason to investigate it, especially when sorting potential grading submissions. Finish that sample before deciding where the rest of the collection will live.
Cardly AI names sports categories; Collectr lists a roadmap.
Cardly AI’s Android listing names basketball, baseball, football, hockey and soccer alongside Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Lorcana and One Piece. Collectr’s scanner page names those six TCGs plus Flesh and Blood, while its PRO page describes sports cards as coming soon.
Choose a representative sample before starting a large inventory. Include a familiar sports card, a parallel or special printing, and a TCG card with a finish you can identify. Confirm the year, set and card number wherever those distinctions apply. A recognizable player or character is only the beginning of the match.
Keep the sample small enough to audit against the physical cards. You should be able to explain each saved entry without relying on its displayed price to tell you whether the match is right.

Separate identification from condition inspection.
Cardly AI describes photo identification and an AI Grading estimate based on visible condition. Collectr’s scanner workflow includes confirming quantity and condition when saving a printing.
Use an estimate to decide where to inspect the card more closely. Check corners, edges, surface and centering under suitable light, then keep the result separate from any grade already assigned by a grading company. A slab label and a new camera estimate serve different purposes.
For duplicates, inspect each physical copy before treating them as interchangeable. A clean copy reserved for your collection and a worn trading copy can require different records even when their printed identifiers match. That distinction will matter when you later choose which card to sell or trade.

The inventory must stay useful after sorting day.
Cardly AI documents collections, duplicates, favorites and estimated collection totals. Collectr offers bulk moves, copying and deletion across portfolios, plus filters for raw cards, graded cards and sealed products.
Organize groups around a rule you can keep following. Storage locations work well for finding a card again; themes can be useful for collecting goals. If you mix the two, establish which entry owns the actual quantity so a favorite does not become an extra copy.
After trading, update outgoing cards before entering new arrivals. For a full portfolio, work through one box or binder section at a time and reconcile its quantities before continuing. A short completed section is easier to maintain than a large unfinished scan history.

Printed languages and a separate backup.
Collectr documents EN, JP and CN portfolio filters. Cardly AI’s checked sources do not enumerate supported printed-card languages. An English app interface does not answer whether a particular Japanese Pokémon printing is recognized.
Use the set code and collector number to check imported editions. Keep different languages separate even when artwork matches. If language coverage is central to your collection, make those cards part of the first sample.
Collectr includes collection export in PRO. A downloadable inventory export is not documented in the checked Cardly AI sources. Before committing a long-term archive, open a sample export from the tool you choose and inspect the identifiers, quantities and fields your separate records require.

Check the paid allowance, not just the annual price.
Prices checked October 11, 2026 show Collectr web PRO at US$7.99 monthly or US$59.99 annually. Cardly AI’s US iOS listing includes weekly US$5.99 and US$6.99 purchases, annual US$39.99 and US$49.99 options, monthly US$14.99 and a separate US$9.99 Batch Scan purchase.
Collectr advertises unlimited scanning in PRO. Cardly AI’s current purchase list does not specify the allowance attached to each offer. Confirm the selected plan’s scan limits and the role of the separate batch purchase before planning a whole-box session.
Cardly AI’s current iOS version is 1.7.6, released September 25 with bug fixes and usability improvements. Choose it for the mixed sports-and-TCG workflow if the sample records meet your needs. Choose Collectr when TCG organization and a documented export are the deciding requirements.
