We compare the features collectors need to identify a card, keep an accurate record and use their collection. The scores currently published on our three app reviews are feature assessments based on documented product information.
The evidence behind a review
We read official Apple and Google listings, developer product pages and support documentation. Reviews identify the sources, published store ratings and the date the information was checked. Official screenshots show the product interface; they do not represent our own timed scanning sessions.
We distinguish a supported game, a catalogue language and a published recognition claim. A language in the App Store’s interface-language field does not establish support for cards printed in that language.
Our current feature score: 10 points
The Collectr, TCGplayer and Dragon Shield MTG reviews use five criteria worth up to two points each. The points assigned to each app appear in its review.

Two points mark an included feature; one point reflects the narrower scope, basic list functionality or paid requirement identified in the review. The total describes this checklist. It is not a percentage of cards correctly recognized or a speed benchmark.
Current totals are Collectr 8/10, TCGplayer 9/10 and Dragon Shield MTG 8/10. A Magic-only app can still be the right choice for a Magic player even though the breadth criterion awards it fewer points.
Featured selections and store ratings
TheCollectibles is a featured editorial selection with a displayed 10/10 score. That selection is separate from the published five-criterion breakdowns on the three app reviews. Apple and Google ratings are user ratings from those stores and are labeled separately.
Toplist order also reflects the collecting task and the apps selected for a guide. It should be read alongside game support, cost and the explanation of who each app suits.
What a measured scanner comparison will record
A repeatable scanning comparison needs the phone model, app version, subscription tier, card sample and lighting conditions. It should count wrong sets and variants, retries and corrections, then measure the time to a correct saved entry. Foils, reprints and different card languages need their own examples.
Those measurements are different from the feature scores currently published. When we publish measured results, we will include their conditions and sample rather than infer performance from a developer’s feature description.
