Photo search leads into price research

PriceCharting offers photo identification for trading cards and comics, with barcode and text search also described in the app listing. After finding a card, examine its exact product record before adding it to a collection. The important distinction is between identifying artwork and identifying the edition you own.

For a difficult match, a manual search with the card number and set is a practical second route. Keep a photo of the physical card available when comparing candidate listings.

Sales history and graded comparisons

The app description identifies past sales from sources including eBay, Heritage and PWCC, alongside pricing for different conditions or grades. This gives you a route from a suggested value to sale evidence. Compare like-for-like transactions: a graded copy, a raw card and a different language printing should not be treated as interchangeable.

Recent sales are inputs to a decision, not an assurance that your own card will sell for the same amount. Check dates and item details before using a result in a trade.

Collection tracking and wishlists

A free PriceCharting account includes a collection tracker and wishlist. The premium comparison documents up to three free folders, with additional organization and reporting in paid plans. A useful starting structure is owned cards, cards available to trade and your next purchases; keep acquisition records if you want to examine profit later.

Games and language editions

The listing names Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic and Lorcana as well as sports cards, while the wider service covers games, comics and other collectibles. English and Japanese Pokémon catalogs are specifically documented. That evidence does not automatically establish support for every other language or game edition.

Apple lists 13 interface localizations. Changing the interface language does not turn a card into a different catalog edition; use the appropriate set and language record for pricing.

What is free and what costs extra?

The US App Store checked on September 24, 2026 lists Collector purchases at $5.99 monthly and $59.99 annually. PriceCharting also publishes web subscription offers, so compare the checkout and platform you actually intend to use. Core collection tracking remains part of its free account, while paid features include richer reports and expanded limits.

Exporting a collection

The official premium comparison allows one collection import and export per week on the free plan and unlimited imports and exports with Collector. The FAQ locates collection export in account settings. Try a small export early and inspect its columns before using it as the foundation of a spreadsheet workflow.

A weekly export can suit occasional collection maintenance; a seller changing inventory daily may value a higher limit. This is a documented service capability rather than a claim that every mobile screen contains an export button.

Latest update and choosing a workflow

The Apple snapshot lists version 1.33.2, released September 10, 2026, with general fixes and improvements. It does not describe a new scanner mode. Choose PriceCharting for the documented combination of identification, sales research and collection records, then decide whether its reporting limits justify a subscription for your own inventory.
