A deck plan is not an ownership record.

You can plan three copies of a card while owning only one. You can also own several printings while wanting a particular version in your deck. A scanner becomes useful when it keeps those two questions separate: what do you want to play, and what is actually in the box?

We would start with Dragon Shield’s Yu-Gi-Oh! app for a deck-centered workflow. Collectr is our starting point for a wider inventory across games. The right choice depends on what you need to do after identifying a card.

Start with one deck and its spare cards.

Dragon Shield’s iOS listing names main, side and extra deck support. Its Android description says cards can be added to decks from your collection, with custom folders, statistics and trade lists alongside that workflow.

Before entering every box, use one deck you know well. Separate its physical copies from spare cards and cards you still need. Then check whether you can move between the planned list and your owned quantity without confusing one for the other.

This is especially useful when two deck ideas share a card. A saved plan should not persuade you that a second physical copy has appeared. Keep a simple allocation rule while experimenting with builds.

Match the printing before counting the playset.

Dragon Shield YGO version 8.1.0, released September 14, introduces its Pro Scanner for card, set and version detection. Collectr describes matching set, number and variant before recording quantity and condition.

Check the set code and finish on a small sample containing reprints before scanning a full binder. Where the same name appears across several products, save the version you actually hold rather than the first familiar picture.

Keep uncertain matches aside and resolve them before adding more cards. A smaller checked inventory is easier to build from than a long list whose quantities need to be reconstructed later.

Foreign text and a regional printing are separate details.

Dragon Shield advertises foreign-card scanning and translation without enumerating exact printed-card language editions. Collectr documents EN, JP and CN portfolio filters.

For an imported card, compare the regional set code and printed details with the saved result. An English name can help you identify the card while still leaving the edition unresolved. Use a representative imported copy early if those cards are a meaningful part of your collection.

Keep this check attached to your collecting purpose: identifying a card, recording its printing and organizing a deck are distinct steps. Do not let a translated result replace inspection of the physical copy.

Organize beyond the next game.

Collectr supports bulk copying, moving and deletion between portfolios, with filters for raw cards, graded cards and sealed products. Its scanner page names Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, Magic, One Piece, Lorcana, Flesh and Blood and Digimon.

That wider scope is useful when your Yu-Gi-Oh! cards sit alongside several other collections. Establish categories you can maintain after purchases and trades, rather than making a new folder for every short-lived plan.

Dragon Shield’s focused deck workflow is more relevant when the recurring task is preparing lists from your YGO inventory. Collectr’s broader organization is more relevant when the recurring task is reconciling everything you own.

Export a sample before a large scan session.

Dragon Shield lists collection export in CSV or text. Collectr includes collection export in PRO.

Open a small export outside the app and inspect the fields you rely on: quantity, set identifier and any printing detail needed to tell duplicates apart. Keep an untouched original before sorting or editing columns.

For a full collection, work in physical batches and reconcile each batch with the saved inventory. Bulk organization is valuable after entry, but it does not replace checking which copies have already been recorded.

Compare the subscription and the workflow.

The Android listing was updated September 16. Choose around the task you will repeat: building YGO lists from owned cards or maintaining a collection across games. Try a representative deck and its spares first, then inspect the inventory and export before committing to a larger project.
